Lot Description
**1913 Pre-WWI Rock Island Model 1903 Rifle
World War I
.30-60. 24" barrel length. SN: 238019. Parkerized arsenal refinish with blued small parts and walnut straight wrist S-Stock and full length upper handguard. Bolt action internal magazine fed repeating rifle charged with stripper clips. Rifle mounts pinned front blade and ladder rear notch sights. Receiver marking reads U.S./ROCK ISLAND/ARSENAL./MODEL 1903 and barrel date is struck RIA/{Ordnance Bomb}/8-13. Bolt handle is struck R10. Flat buttplate without checkering and void of tools. Stock shows a circle P to wrist below a struck 3, with left wrist showing C.N./1913 cartouche of inspector Conrad Nelson, correct of Rock Island rifles. Forward end of the stock displays an S stamp. Rifle mounts a Pattern of 1907 leather sling. {C&R}
