Simple blowback operated striker action autoloading pistol fed by detachable single stack magazines. Standard markings include COLT AUTOMATIC/CALIBRE .25 to right slide and two-line address and patent mark to left reading COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A. followed by patent mars. Slight rounding at the edges and weakening of address suggest the item was engraved and refinished after leaving the factory. The slide, frame, barrel, and grip safety are richly engraved in a New York style with flowing foliate scrolls over a punch dot background, dotted line details around the trigger, and geometric line accents to rear slide. Magazine is refinished and nickel plated to match, with engraving over the floorplate and standard COLT/.25 CAL marking. {C&R}
