Lot Description

Colt Single Action Army Revolver with DFC Sub-Inspection Marks
Indian Wars

.45 Colt. 7.5" barrel. SN: 73923 (mfg. ca. 1882). No finish remaining, smooth walnut grip. Single action black powder frame revolver with fluted six-chambered cylinder, grooved top strap rear sight and repaired or replaced front sight. One line Hartford barrel address is weak, as is the three-date in three-line frame marking and "US" on frame. Weak "D.F.C." inspections are visbile on the frame and cylinder wtih a weak "P" on the barrel and cylidner. Matching numbers on triggerguard, frame and butt, only the last two digits of the barrel number are visible and match, no visible number on cylinder. Barrel with apparent discoloration due to heat and chemical toning, suggesting some sort of repair or possibly stretching. Endoscopic evaluation found no seam, but the bore seems too good for a gun in this condition, suggesting a liner. {ANTIQUE}
