Lot Description
US Model 1803 Pistol by Harpers Ferry dated 1807.
War of 1812
.54 caliber. 10" barrel with under lug. SN: 513. Bright finish, brass furniture, walnut stock. Single shot muzzleloading flintlock pistol with bead front sight and wooden ramrod. Standard Harpers Ferry lock markings and barrel proofs. Lock appears to have the original rounded, fenced and bridled integral iron pan intact with many parts apparently replaced, including the frizzen and probably the cock. Touchhole appears well centered, if a little high, in the pan. Breech shows indications of polishing and the breech plug tang shows some damage and chemical coloring. Markings are mostly clear and legible. Stock has been completely broken through the lock mortise and rebuilt with added finish to conceal much of the repair work, which is immediately obvious when the lock is removed. A weak cartouche is present on the counterpane. {ANTIQUE}
