Lot Description
Dutch Flintlock Carbine by Thone of Amsterdam
.69 caliber. 40.25" barrel. NSN. Bright finish, brass furniture, European hardwood stock. Single shot flintlock muzzleloading musket with three flat brass barrel bands, the lower two friction fit and the upper double strapped band spring retained. Musket features a brass blade front sight, no rear sight, a traditional Dutch style buttplate with large head butt screws, flat two-screw side plate, sling swivel lugs on the triggerguard bow and rear of upper barrel band, socket bayonet lug under the barrel about 1" from the muzzle and a Hanoverian style bayonet catch. 5.75" convex lock appears to be in original flint and is marked THONE/AMSTERDAM. Cock may be replaced, top jaw and screw appear to be replaced. A solid example of a turn of the 19th century Dutch "carbine" in decent condition.
