[Philadelphia] Sidney, James Charles, and Augustus Kollner. Map of the Circuit of Ten Miles Around the City of Philadelphia...

Philadelphia: Robert P. Smith, 1847. Hand-colored lithographic map, by N. Friend after James Charles Sidney and Augustus Kollner; printed by P.S. Duval. Dissected into 35 sections and laid down onto linen. Sheet toned; staining at center right; scattered spotting; scattered edge wear; chipping in bottom right corner; mat burn. 23 x 22 9/16 in. (584 x 573 mm). In mat and in frame, 27 x 27 in. (686 x 686 mm). Phillips 424; Ristow, American Maps and Mapmakers, pp. 344-346

Rare and highly detailed map of Philadelphia and its environs. Drawn by English-born architect and surveyor James Charles Sidney, it is the first map published by prolific Philadelphia map publisher Robert Piersall Smith. The map is colored by townships, and shows two vignettes, depicting Laurel Hill Cemetery and Girard College by Augustus Kollner, one of Philadelphia's earliest lithographers.

According to RBH, this is the first example to come to auction since 2016.

This lot is located in Philadelphia.
