[South America] Coaling Up Station in Lima

Alexander Gardner (1821-1882) and Henry DeWitt Moulton (1828-1893), American.
 
Albumen photograph of a coal dock in Lima, Peru.
 
A print from the incredibly scarce Rays of Sunlight from South America, published by Gardner in 1865. Moulton was the photographer while Gardner printed the negatives and was the publisher of the volume, which included 68 photographs of Lima, Peru and the Chincha Islands. Depicts a massive trestle designed to accommodate coal trains, with three-masted ships in the distance. 3.5 x 9" on larger, modern mount with imprint of "Abraham Lincoln Book Shop."
