The Amateur Photographic Exchange Club (1861-1863) was a loose consortium of amateur stereoscopic photographers, counting no more than 25 members, mostly based in Philadelphia and New York city. The group was the first of its kind, taking stereographs and exchanging them with one another. Members were required to take part in six exchanges a year, and all images were be be labeled using an agreed-upon format. Because of the limited number of participants and the short-lived nature of the group, members' views are rarely encountered.
