[Daguerreotype] He Took the Best Known Portrait of Daguerre

Jean-Baptiste Sabatier Blot (1801-1881), French.

Half plate, matted and framed, inscribed in ink on the mount, "Sabatier Palais Royal, 137." 7 x 8.5".

A fine portrait of a distinguished Frenchman striking a Napoleonic pose. Sabatier learned the daguerreotype process from Daguerre, and in 1844 took what is arguably the best, and most widely known, portrait of his teacher.
