Featured in 4 florally bordered quadrants are illustrations of hands contorted into various positions, with the resulting shadow effect shown just to the side. Many of the shadows seem to depict various animals including a rabbit, a goat, various birds, and others.

Shadowgraphs, like the ones featured here, were sometimes included in sign language pamphlets, with their use being promoted as "a mirthful and agreeable pastime."
