Lot Description
[MILITARIA]. Three Corps badges, one inscribed "Co. D, Dead Shot."
Five-pointed star, possibly representing the XII or XX Corps, obverse engraved "Co. D, Dead Shot," reverse marked "A. Corwin, Pure Coin." Small hole between "Co." and "D." Approx. 2 x 2 in. -- Greek cross, possibly representing the VI Corps, obverse stamped "49." Remnants of light blue ribbon attached to hole at top of cross. Approx. 1 5/8 x 1 5/8 in. -- Maltese Cross, possibly representing the XIX Corps, obverse stamped "G - B." Two small holes near top edge of cross. 7/8 x 7/8 in.
Together, 3 badges, possibly representing Union Corps badges worn by Civil War soldiers. Consignor notes that the badges were found together but no further provenance is available.
