7 7/8 x 6 5/8 in. partly printed receipt. Charleston, SC, 13 January 1852. Cartouche to upper left advertises W. G. Bancroft as a seller of "Negro Goods Of Every Description. / Silks, Satins, Cashmeres, Prints, Shawls, Cloths, Cassimeres, Satinetts, Linens, Domestics, &c. / Wholesale and Retail."
Ink inscribed purchases include 10 yards of kersey wool and 23 yards of satinett fabric "for negroes," totaling $10.50. Signature and inscription below indicates that payment has been received.
