Lot Description

[EARLY PHOTO] Collection of paper photos, incl. CDVs, cabinet cards, RPPCs, silver gelatin prints.

18 CDVs, highlighted by a portrait of a young girl holding her doll on the cushion of a chair and looking toward the camera. Berlin, Germany: Philipp Graff, n.d. -- 11 cabinet cards, highlighted by an advertising portrait of a woman (identified on verso as Emma MacGill) wearing a dress covered in various wares and holding an umbrella, next to an embroidered banner reading, "P. W. Anthony / Dry Goods & Groceries." Renovo, PA: Bergstresser, n.d. -- A miniscule portrait of a young man wearing a wide-brimmed hat, mounted on a 2 1/2 in. x 2 1/2 in. mount, with imprint for "Clime's Penny Photos" on verso. -- 1 5/8 x 3 in. mounted albumen portrait of a young child wearing a dress and holding a basket, with stamp for "A. P. Beecher's Photograph Gallery...Wilmington, Del." on verso. -- 10 "real photo" and photo printed postcards including one featuring a young girl pushing her doll in a wicker carriage, ca 1920. -- A large format mounted silver gelatin photograph showing a hide tanning operation, or "Tanyard," in Chile, with "The Philadelphia Museums" stamp to lower right and descriptive text printed to verso explaining the process of tanning hides. -- Large format hand-colored albumen print (possibly after a chalk print) of a baby with a colorful plaid sash around its waist. Uncredited, n.d. -- 10 other mounted silver gelatin prints. -- 11 additional images, including some reproductions. -- Together, 64 paper images.

[With:] 5 tintype portraits of girls, each housed in a CDV-sized paper sleeve.

[Also with:] 6 postcards featuring photograph-related illustrations on obverses.
