[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY]. 25 images of Venice and Milan, including works by Ongania and Naya.
(Italian, 1842–1911)
ONGANIA, Ferdinando (Italian, 1842-1911). 23 photogravures from Calli E Canali in Venezia, 1890-1891; printed 1891. Each image approx. 9 x 13 1/4 in., sheet approx. 14 1/2 x 21 1/2 in. (disbound, light residue to left edge of each sheet, light occasional spotting to margins). Provenance: Bequest of Morgan Garwood.
NAYA, Carlo. (Italian, 1816–1882). Canale dell'Ospitale Civile, Venezia, 1876. Albumen print, image 10 5/8 × 14 in., mount, 11 1/2 x 14 1/2 in. (some light spotting/soiling to margins). Provenance: Museum purchase with funds provided by the Caroline Wiess Law Accessions Endowment Fund, The Manfred Heiting Collection.
Milan Cathedral, 1870. Albumen silver print from glass negative, image 10 1/2 × 14 1/4 in., mount 17 7/8 × 22 3/8 in. (toning to print, scatted spotting to print and mount).
