[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY]. 29 sixth plate daguerreotypes of aged women.
Seated portrait of an elderly woman without teeth, wearing a ruffled bonnet, identified as "Grand Mother Samson" on accompanying paper slip. (Image a bit faint, with some chemical spotting.) Housed in a half pressed paper case (surface wear). Paper slip includes the names and relations of other family members. -- An up-close portrait of a full-bodied elderly woman with deep-set eyes and an interesting expression. She wears a bonnet and a shawl. (Tarnishing to edges and some scratches to upper portion of plate, some other spotting and imperfections throughout.) Housed in a half pressed paper case (surface wear). -- Portrait of an older woman holding a book in her lap and sitting in an ornately carved wooden chair with needlepoint backrest. She wears a bonnet and smiles ever-so-slightly. (Tarnishing to edges, few other spots.) Housed under mat, glass, and preserver only; no case. -- And 27 others. Some without cases. Conditions vary. -- Together, 30 sixth plate daguerreotypes.
