Lot Description
[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY]. 20 assorted cased images, collected as associated family groups.
6 sixth plate images of men and women, all with attached paper labels, most identifying the subjects as members of the ARMS or FARWELL families, including Lemuel Farwell (1829-1894), his wife, Calista Arms Farwell (1831-1911), and her father, William Arms (1794-1853) (2 images). These members of the family appear to have ended up in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada, as a quick Ancestry search confirms that they are each buried there. The other two images in the grouping feature subjects also likely related to the family, but their exact relations are not immediately clear from accompanying labels. -- 8 assorted images of men, women, and children, some with modern paper labels identifying the subjects as members of the BUFORD, MCLARIN, and SWANN families, including William Buford Swann (1825-1910), his wife Ann Frances Swann (née McLarin) (1831-1905), their daughter Emma Floyd (née Swann) (1851-1935), and others, including 3 unidentified images and 2 identified but without clear relation to the family based on accompanying labels. It seems many members of this family ended up in Fulton County, Georgia. -- 3 sixth plate images, all accompanied by modern paper labels (and inked identities on velvet pads) identifying the subjects as members of the VAUGHAN and WEEKS families, including 2 images of Thomas Vaughan (1885-1952) as a baby (Newcomer's Gallery pad stamp) and a young boy, and a portrait of married couple Henry Weeks (b. ca 1832) and Amanda Weeks (née Sutton) (b. ca 1838). -- And a group of 3 assorted images apparently related to a Judge Walker. -- Together, 20 cased images, collected by consignor in groups with apparent familial associations. Conditions vary.
