[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY]. Pistol Flashmeter, Watkin's Standard Exposure Meter, and "Birdie."
The Pistol Flashmeter. English "tin pistol" for "accurately exposing bromide & gaslight papers," exact length of magnesium ribbon determined by inch or meter scale. Directions on reverse side of pistol indicates use for "Gaslight Prints or Lantern Slides." Size approx. 2 x 5 3/4 in. With original box, ca 1900 (some light spotting, areas of minor rusting to tin, handling wear to box). -- Watkin's Standard Exposure Meter manufactured by the Watkins Meter Co., Hereford, England. Pendulum style exposure meter. Height approx. 2 in., diameter 1 3/8 in. With original tin box and instructions, ca 1900 (some surface wear to meter and tin box). -- Original brass "Watch the Birdie" figure, height approx. 4 in. (some surface wear throughout).
