Lot Description

A Set of Twelve Rare and Important Spanish Plateresque Carved Walnut Colonettes from the Jaén Cathedral
Attributed to Andrés de Vandelvira (1509-1575), 16th Century

each with stylized capitals over fluted shafts, the lower halves distinctly carved with grotesques, sirens, angels, and mythical creatures in the round, on later ring-turned bases, one column bearing initials, "AV," for Andrés de Vandelvira.

Height 22 3/4 inches.
