Contemporary half dark olive calf, marbled boards, smooth spines divided into 6 compartments by gilt fillets, gilt-lettering in 2, others with gilt centerpieces, speckled edges (spines evenly sunned with a touch of rubbing at ends, light rubbing to boards). Provenance: early indiscernible ownership signature on title-pages.

Hanmer edited one of the earliest printed editions of Shakespeare's works, published at Oxford between 1743 and 1744 in six volumes. This was later reprinted in 1747 in a smaller duodecimo format but with several more engravings and a glossary, as seen here. Jaggard, p.500.
