8vo. Frontispiece, etched title, and 14 plates by H.K. Browne. (A single plate with a large closed tear repaired.) Modern crushed red niger gilt, all edges gilt, stamp-signed by Frost.

FIRST EDITION IN BOOK FORM, FIRST ISSUE with p.213 misnumbered as p.113 and signature "b" present on the List of Plates leaf. A Tale of Two Cities was originally published in 31 weekly installments in Dickens's literary periodical, All the Year Round, from April to November 1859. Smith I:13; Gimbel A142.
