Lot Description
[CIVIL WAR]. Civil War-era child's snare drum & eagle head sword.
American Civil War
Small drum, 8 1/2 in. tall by 10 1/2 in. high and finished like a full-size military drum. The original label from the Massachusetts Drum Manufactory in Boston is clearly visible through the vent hole. Batter head and snare head have been repaired. Four strand catgut snare is in tact as is the brass tensioner. Eight traditional heart-shaped tugs are present and the rope is intact. With a patriotic spread wing eagle with an "I" emblazoned on its shield and a blue background. -- Child's Civil War sword, 23 1/2 in. blade with original wire wrap in place, complete with scabbard, carrying rings. Leather is slightly worn, no breaks anywhere.
