Lot Description

MORROW, Stanley J. (1843-1921), photographer. Cabinet card of Luther "Yellowstone" Kelly. Yankton, Dakota Territory. 


Cabinet photograph on cardstock mount featuring a shoulder-length portrait of Luther "Yellowstone" Kelly, verso with S.J. Morrow's Yankton, D.T. imprint and period inked notation, "Yellowstone Kelley [sic] Scout."

Morrow took a series of staged images of the famed frontier scout, Luther "Yellowstone" Kelly (1849-1928), which were issued as stereoviews. Here, Kelly wears a coat with a kerchief tied around his neck. RARE: We have located no auction records for this photograph.
