A Japanese Gilt and Lacquered Zushi Shrine, Edo Period
Edo Period (1615-1868)
The hexagonal shrine with engraved gilt metal mounts, gilt lacquer interior, enclosing a figure of Dainichi Nyorai seated on a stepped lotus throne, his hands in the "wisdom-fist" mudra.
Shrine height 25 in., 63.5 cm.
