A Japanese Carved and Painted Wood "Lotus" Scepter, Meiji Period
The lotus bud on the end of a double stalk with rolled leaf, opening to reveal a polychromed Amida Buddha seated in meditation, the seed syllable of Compassion painted on the inside of the open petal.
Length 18 in., 45.8 cm.
