Two Fine Satsuma-Type Cabinet Vases, Kinkozan Workshop; Meiji Period
Meiji Period (1868-1912)

The first of tapered bulbus form, decorated with a hen, cockerel and chicks among flowers; the other reserve with a family group on a pavilion open to the landscape beyond, all against dense gilt floral scrolls on an unusual glossy amber-brown ground; the other vase tapering to the flared foot, decorated with three heart-shaped reserves depicting birds in a landscape, all against a dense gilt floral ground; undersides of both signed, the second with remnant of a Kinkozan, Kyoto paper label.
