A Pair of Japanese Parcel Gilt and Patinated Bronze Vase, Signed Kyoto Inoue sei, Meiji Period
明治時期 京都井上製花鳥紋銅瓶一對
Signed Kyoto Inoue sei, Meiji Period (1868-1912)

Each vase of trumpet form, the exterior densely inlaid in copper, silver, shakudo takazogan and hirazogan depicting birds flying amongst chrysanthemums, Japanese tree peonies, azaleas, vines, and berries, all above a gilt highlighted diaper ground spreading base and foot ring, the interior of the flared mouth inlaid in gilt metal with grapes, vines, and leaves; the underside inscribed with the maker's mark, Kyoto Inoue sei, above a gilt highlighted square seal mark of Inoue.
Height 14 5/8 in., 37.2 cm.
