Miyao Eisuke, A Patinated Bronze 'Oni' Stand with Crystal Sphere, Meiji Period
Meiji Period (1868-1912)
This finely cast bronze pair of oni with gilt eyes is mounted on a wood base, the two figures upholding a crystal (glass) ball above them. The stand is further embellished with detailed gold-lacquered scroll motifs. The maker’s mark is discreetly inset to back of one of the oni’s loincloth.
