A Painting of Emperor Shah Jahan Seated on the Peacock Throne, North India, 20th Century

Opaque pigments and gold on paper, depicting the emperor seated on the throne, his right hand raised holding a floral stem, his left hand lowered touching his dagger, blue background behind, margins with black-outlined and blue colored floral scrolls.

Note:
A rendering inspired by a very similar early 17th century Mughal painting, dated 1635, celebrating Shah Jahan’s inauguration of the magnificent Peacock Throne.
Painting 7 3/8 x 5 1/8 in., 18.7 x 13 cm; Folio 10 3/8 x 8 1/4 in., 26.35 x 20.9 cm.
