A Small Profile Portrait Painting of Raja Sujan Singh of Bikaner in a Jharokha, Bikaner, Rajasthan, India, 18th/19th Century

Workshop of Ruknuddin; by a senior master trained in Ruknuddin’s manner. Opaque pigments and gold on paper, depicting Raja Sujan Singh of Bikaner (r. 1707–1735) sitting in a jharoka (stone window embrasure) sniffing a rose, the left hand lowered, green ground behind, margins highlighted in gold.
