Lot Description

A Chinese Bronze Figure of a Dragon, Possibly Song/Yuan Dynasty

The dragon is rendered with flared nostrils and intricately intertwined scrolling tails, seated in a martial posture. Its surface retains traces of gilding beneath a patina of malachite encrustation. Accompanied by a photocopy of a letter from Doris Dohrenwend, Associate Curator, Royal Ontario Museum, dated March 7, 1983, discussing the present piece.
Height 6 5/8 in., 16.8 cm.
