清中期 掐絲琺瑯雲蝠紋雙聯瓶
18th Century
The doubled cylindrical vase, comprised of two linked open rings in section, further divided horizontally at mid-section; the turquoise ground with numerous multicolored bats among cobalt blue scrolling clouds; the exposed copper alloy gilded, the interior and underside with greyish-white speckled enamel.
Note:
The unusual form of the present double vase, comprised of two open linked rings in section, likely refers to one of the "Eight Treasures", Babao, symbolizing two coins (wealth). The propitious nature of the vase is furthered by the decorative motif of numerous multicolored bats among scrolling clouds, including red bats, hongfu, homophonous with "Boundless Prosperity or Good Fortune".
