[Natural History] Duppa, Richard. The Classes and Orders of the Linnaean System of Botany
London: T. Bensley for Longman, Hurst, Reese, Orme, and Brown, 1816. In three volumes. First edition. 8vo. Illustrated with 240 engraved plates (all but three hand-colored), with one additional plate tipped-in; each illustration numbered in pencil. First edition, hand-colored issue. Duppa describes at length the taxonomic system first developed by Swedish botanist Carl Linnaeus. "This work is intended to be a complete illustration of the Linnaean system of Botany...This work was originally begun as an amusement, and it has gradually expanded in size" (Introduction). Includes a dictionary of botanical terms and a general index. The book was issued both colored and uncolored.
