A pair of autograph documents by Founding Father John Jay (1745-1829), first Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, signed in text during his tenure. Jay was appointed by George Washington to the office of Chief Justice in 1789, serving until his resignation in 1795.

Ann Chambers was the late widow of John Chambers (1710-1764), former Chief Justice of the New York Supreme Court, and John Jay's uncle and namesake.
