Illustrated with an engraved frontispiece, engraved vignette title-page, and 41 engraved plates by Robert Seymour and Hablot Knight Browne ("Phiz"). Original limp printed pictorial green wrappers, scattered wear and soiling, scattered repairs to spines and edges, contemporary ownership signatures at top of front wrapper of Nos. XVI and XVIII; scattered soiling and spotting to text; scattered foxing to plates, especially in No. XIX/XX; in full navy blue morocco solander box. Hatton & Cleaver, pp. 3-88; Eckel, pp. 17-58

Parts I-XIV in later state wrappers, dated 1837 (ca. Lacking ads in all volumes, except the final four parts; lacking the author's Address in Nos. II, III, X, and XV; corrected text in Nos. I-XIII; First Plates in Nos. X, XI, XIII, XIV, XV, and XVIII, remaining Nos. in second or later states.

First edition in monthly parts of Dickens's first novel. A handsome set.
