Scarce toy theater set for Charles Dickens's Oliver Twist. Benjamin Pollock (1856-1937) was born in Hoxton, London, and married Eliza Redington, daughter of John Redington, proprietor of John Redington's Theatrical Warehouse. Specializing in prints and toy set pieces, Redington first published this following the release of Oliver Twist, in 1838, issuing it until his death, in 1874. Following Redington's death, Pollock continued the business--as Benjamin Pollock's Toy Shop--with his wife for the next sixty years, and reissued this toy under his own imprint.
