London: Richard Bentley, 1838. In three volumes. First edition, first issue (with "Boz" on each title-page and with "Fireside" plate in third volume). 8vo. With half-title in first and second volumes, one (of two) ad leaves at rear of first volume, and ad leaf at front of third volume. Illustrated with three etched frontispieces and 21 etched plates by George Cruikshank. Full tan calf, red and green morocco spine labels, decorated in gilt, rubbing to joints, a few very small chips along spines; top edges gilt, other edges trimmed; marbled endpapers; by Bayntun; light spotting to text and plates; repaired closed tear in fore-edge, P3 in Vol. I, soiling on same recto; original cloth bound in at rear of each volume; in tan cloth slip case.
