With an original pencil drawing by the illustrator, Hablot Knight Browne ("Phiz"), inserted at p. 233 (of the plate "The dissolution of Partnership"). Thick 8vo. Illustrated with an engraved frontispiece, engraved vignette title-page, and 38 engraved plates, by Browne. Full blue levant, decorated in gilt, spine browned, front and rear joints worn; top edge gilt, other edges untrimmed; gilt dentelles; purple coated endpapers; by Riviere & Son; foxing to plates; original blue cloth bound in at rear. First edition in book form, with an original drawing by Hablot Knight Browne inserted. From the library of Nelson Doubleday (1889-1949), son of Frank Nelson Doubleday (1862-1934), founder of American publishing company, Doubleday. The younger Doubleday succeeded his father as president of the firm, serving in that role from 1922-46.
