Erasmus's Familiarum Colloquiorum was a widely read and influential collection of Latin dialogues first published in 1518. Created as a language textbook for students, it quickly evolved into a social commentary. Controversial due to its satirical tone and perceived challenges to the Church, the Colloquies was placed on the Index Librorum Prohibitorum in 1564.
