Two Cotton and Wool Jacquard Coverlets
Example 1: natural cotton and blue wool. Circa 1840-1845, Ohio. 76 1/8 × 66 1/2 inches.
Example 2: natural cotton and blue wool. Inscribed Made by W Fasig Clark Co Illi's US 1858. 91 1/4 × 73 5/8 inches.
"William Fasig was born in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, March 13, 1801. In 1824 he moved to Wayne County, Ohio, and in 1834 to Richland County, where he remained until 1847. After a short time in Missouri, he went to Clark, County, Illinois, and settled near Martinsville. He was a brick layer and farmer as well as a weaver, laying brick in the fall and farming in the summer. He married Elizabeth Hibschman (1803-1882) of Lebanon County, Pennsylvania."
