First edition celebrating Major John Andre by English poet Anna Seward (1742-1809), often called the "Swan of Lichfield." Andre had been executed as a spy the year before for his involvement in Benedict Arnold's conspiracy. In this work Seward famously condemns George Washington, saying "Remorseless Washington! the day shall come Of deep repentance for this barb'rous doom!" (p. 25)
