First edition. 4to. 357 pp. Extra-illustrated copy, with 128 added plates being different views, portraits of Revolutionary generals or statesmen, maps, etc. Full red morocco, spine stamped in gilt, front and rear boards detached, corners bumped; top edge gilt, other edges trimmed; elaborately gilt and green morocco dentelles; printed moire silk endleaves; by Zaehnsdorf; morocco book-plate of Valentine Hollingsworth on verso of front free endpaper, printed book-plate of Z.T. First edition of a first-hand account of the Andre/Arnold conspiracy written by Joshua Hett Smith, owner of the house where the two generals famously met to plot their treason. Sabin suggests that Smith wrote the work to "...justify his own character against the charge of being involved..."
