Amsterdam: Isaacum Stokmans, 1704. Two volumes in one. First edition. 4to. 702, 96 pp. Title-page printed in red and in black with engraved vignette. Text in Latin and in Hebrew. Full contemporary vellum, spine with manuscript title, boards soiled with loss to extremities, lower fore-edge of rear board perished; front gutter starting; paper loss at bottom fore-edge of title-page; ink stamp at bottom of title-page; scattered foxing to text.
First edition of Calvinist theologian Melchior Leydekker's (1642-1721) collection of dissertations on Jewish laws, customs, and history. Leydekker was a professor of biblical studies at the University of Utrecht, being appointed in 1678.
