Lot Description
[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY]. Quarter plate daguerreotype of a musician posed with his zither by LYTLE.
Seated portrait of a fellow with slightly long, curly hair and a nascent mustache, holding a zither on his lap. He wears a large bowtie and checkered vest and jacket. (Tarnishing to edges, spotting throughout, some other imperfections but a clear image; reglazed and resealed 2003.) Housed in a pressed paper case (general wear).
Penciled note on green piece of paper behind image reads, "Jany 23d 1855 / Capt[?] A. D. Lytle Artist."
Andrew D. Lytle was listed as a daguerreian in Cincinnati, OH from 1856-1858.
