[LINCOLNIANA] 4 items incl. broadside promoting portrait of Lincoln and Washington and memorial card


Lot comprised of 4 items, including:

An Ornament for Every Lady's Album and A Picture for Every American Family. The Father and the Martyr. The Portraits of Lincoln and Washington, Both in One Picture. William Street, NY: George Munro & Co., publishers. Signed in type by Henry Taylor, Baltimore, Md. 8 1/2 x 5 3/8 in. printed broadside advertising the portrait depicting George Washington and Abraham Lincoln together, published in two sizes, including "cards for albums" and "larger size, for framing" (light soiling, light folds, some edge wear). The seller notes, "This picture is a splendid Photograph. Beware of cheap Lithographic Imitations!"

[With:] In Memoriam / Abraham Lincoln. 4 x 2 3/8 in. printed memorial card featuring a portrait of Lincoln at center, surrounded by a black mourning border, with Lincoln's birth and death dates in the lower margin (light soiling and edge wear). -- 3 x 2 in. printed portrait of Lincoln in profile (minor residue on verso). -- Postal cover with printed information on front promoting a portrait of Abraham Lincoln published by Prang & Co., Boston. With details about the portrait, which was "copied by permission from the Original Painting, executed for the Secretary of the Navy, Hon. Gideon Welles, by Matthew Wilson, in March 1865." A quote from Welles about the portrait is included at bottom. Reverse side of cover includes printed "List of Prang's Album Cards, in Oil Colors." Addressed to "Mr. Henry Holcomb, Andover, Ashtabula, Ohio," with "Boston, Mass. Dec. 13" postmark (soiling, edge and corner wear, sealed).
