[AMERICANA]. 2 photographically illustrated books feat. prominent Chicago and Cincinnati figures.

Cincinnati Past and Present: or, Its Industrial History, as Exhibited in the Life-Labors of its Leading Men...Photographically Illustrated by Lames Landy. Cincinnati, OH: Elm Street Printing Co., 1872. 8vo, leather, "Cincinnati Past and Present" in gilt on cover. Illustrated with tipped in albumen photographs. Frontis of Tyler-Davidson fountain; remainder illustrated with portraits of approx. 124 of Cincinnati's prominent citizens of mid-19th century. Subjects include Hayes (Rutherford B.), Este, Gano, Whetstone, Torrence, Taft (Alphonso), Eggleston, and Mitchell. Appears to be incomplete, lacking a few plates.

[Chicago: Wilson & St. Clair, 1868]. 8vo, leather, "Biographical Sketches / Illustrated" in gilt on spine. Illustrated with tipped in albumen photographs accompanied by facsimile signature below each portrait. Frontis of City Hall; remainder illustrated with portraits of approx. 94 of Chicago's prominent citizens of the the mid-19th century. Subjects include politicians, abolitionists, and military figures such as Felsenthal, Greenbaum, Salomon, and Volk. Appears to be incomplete, lacking a few plates. Scarce pre–Fire imprint and an early work on American portrait photography.
