Lot Description

[CIVIL WAR]. Tintype portrait of a doubly armed soldier in full kit.

Quarter plate full standing studio portrait of a Union soldier with long hair and mustache, wearing a his cartridge sling and belt rig complete with cap pouch and gold-highlighted oval belt plate. He holds an 1861 Springfield rifle to one side and has a revolver (possibly a Moore Revolver) tucked into his belt. (Image plate with some scratching, rubbing, and other minor imperfections; unsealed.) Housed loosely in a half pressed paper case under mat and glass only (losses to case).
