Lot Description
[EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY]. 5 pairs of images featuring the same subjects, mostly daguerreotypes.
A pair of half plate daguerreotypes of a grinning granny with her less-than-amused grandson, likely an original and a copy as they appear identical except for orientation. (Tarnishing to edges, some clouding, spotting.) Each housed separately in leatherette cases (one fully separated, both with significant surface wear and losses). -- A pair of sixth plate daguerreotypes of a mother and her toddler, both with somewhat bulging eyes, from the same sitting but slightly different poses. (Some tarnishing to edges, few other imperfections. Each housed separately in a half leatherette case (significant surface wear, loss). -- A pair of sixth plate daguerreotypes featuring the same pouting young boy, including one with his bearded father or grandfather sitting next to him. (Tarnishing, wipes, scratching, other imperfections.) Each housed separately under mat, glass, and preserver only; no case. -- And 2 more pairs. Conditions vary. -- Together, 10 images.
