8vo. 39 engraved plates by Hablot Knight Browne ("Phiz") as issued (the first four plates in the first state), EXTRA-ILLUSTRATED with an engraved frontispiece portrait by Finden after Maclise (before letters), and 40 engraved plates by Thomas Onwhyn (some under his pseudonym "Peter Palette"). (Scattered minor spotting to text and plates.) Full tan calf, brown morocco spine labels, decorated in gilt, all edges gilt, stamp-signed by Riviere & Son (rubbing to joints, spine ends, and corners).
