8vo. Original turquoise cloth stamped in gilt, red, and black (sunning to spine); publisher's dust jacket (creasing along folds, rubbing, toning). Provenance: David Hayman, Professor of English and Comparative Literature at the University of Wisconsin (presentation inscription).
Second printing. PRESENTATION COPY INSCRIBED BY VONNEGUT TO DAVID AND LONI HAYMAN, "Nice, nice, very nice, so many different people in the same device. Barnstable, Mass. August 14, 1969." Vonnegut's scathing anti-war classic was based on his own experiences as a POW who survived the Allied bombing of Dresden in 1945.
