Lot Description
[FLAGS]. 29-star American parade flag with double medallion pattern. Ca 1847-1848.
5 3/4 by 9 in. flag printed on gauze, the stars configured in a double medallion pattern. Mounted and framed, 12 x 16 in. overall.
The 29-star flag became the official US flag in 1847 with the addition of Iowa on 28 December 1846. It served for a little over one year when Wisconsin became a state on 29 May 1848.
